Erin Darby is a visual artist who works primarily with oil paint. Inspired by interconnectedness, the relationships between the micro and the macro, and the natural world around her, she creates in an attempt to find something familiar within the inherently unfamiliar.
She believes that noticing is an act of honoring, taking that which she observes and abstracting it to distill its essence, pushing to find truth outside of absolute realism. More broadly, her work deals with the complex and looping passage of time, a so-called “compression” of space, and a reach towards connection in an increasingly disconnected world.
She received a BFA from Utah Valley University and is currently based in the Salt Lake Valley.
